RECCE Photo's
These are some of our RECCE shots. Half of our music video will be shot in our school hall. The piano will be in the middle of the hall, and on of our actors will be playing it. The piano is a key element to our music video.
Advertisement Plan
This my first plan idea for my magazine advertisement. I want to have a large photo as my background so that there is not much white space. This way it will catch peoples eyes. Having a smaller image of the Digipak will want people to buy it more, as it is like we are teasing them. Release date is extremely important as it will inform the reader on when to go and buy it, I will put this in a bigger font, so it stands out.

Magazine Advertisement Examples
This is one example of a magazine advertisment for a digipak. This one is for rihanna, they have used one big picture as the main background, with the title and release date in white which stands out against the red background. Then there is a smaller picture of the Digipak itself, showing the reader a sneak preview of what they can expect the album to look like.
This magzine advertisement is for an artist called Le Roux. They have decided the split the advertisment in two. On one side they have a picture of the artist, and on the other side there is a list of reviews of the album/digipak. Underneath that in a bigger font it states that this album is available now, it is also in a white colour contrasting against the dark background.
Digipak Template
This is the type of Digipak template I would use to create mine for my coursework. On the front page I would pick a photograph of the talent in the music video or a photograph of the location for our video. Above this would be the title of the digipak/album with the name of the artist aswell. Something, I would include on the back is the titles of the songs on the CD. I would also put a barcode on the back of my digipak. Inside, I might put some more pictures of the video/artist, aswell as some credits. Another possible option is putting some lyrics for the songs in the digipak.

Examples Of Digipaks-

This is a rihanna digipak, which uses a close up of her face as the main picture to capture the audience attention. Using, the bright red hair and lipstick stands out against the neutral coloured writing.
This is an oasis digipak which as you can see hasn't used there faces as the cover but a guitar as it shows a true meaning to the fact that this digipak is acoustic. Also, it has listed the titles of the song on the back of the digipak in bright colours compared to the contrating coloured background.

Textual Analysis Of Previous Students
I am now going to analyse a piece of students work.
I am looking at a music video for Beyonces song, Run the world, (girls).
At the very beginning of video there are a series of quick short cuts, which follows the beat of the song, this is very effective as it catches the audiences attention. Also, slow motion is used near the beginning as the main girl, walks over to her main position, this is very good as it makes the movement seem longer intresting the audience. Next, there was a low angle shot, and this conveys that the women in the video are im charge and that they have the power. This then relates to the title of the song. Another editing technique is superquick cuts so it looked like the scene was cutting, when in actual fact it was an effective way of introducing the next scene. A camerashot shot used was a close-up shot of the dancers and it shows the audience that they have the power as they perform strong powerful dance movements. There is also a birds eye shot of the main talent in the bath, this gives the audience a overview of here strong body position. Furthermore, anothing editing technique was fade in and out, they faded in the main actress as she faded out again, giving the scene a flow, along with the dance moves she is performing not being as stiff. There are many costumes in this video, but the one that interested me was the army outfits. To help the title of this song come across to the audience, the student has used army outfits on the girls to show that not only men can be in the army but women too. This conveys women as strong people. Throughout the video the talent keeps eye contact with the camera making the reader feel more involved. The lighting in this video was made up of natural daylight and artificial light coming from the tunnel where some of the video was set, therefore, when we create our video we know we can use a mixture of the two. Lastly, the student has used the editing to rewind the movement and then repeat it again. The use repeating the movements mean that it will stick in the readers mind. I will consider this when making our music video.

Do A Textual Analysis Using Media Terminology Of Three Existing Texts
Cristina Perri- Jar Of Hearts Textual Analysis-
Firstly, in Mise-en-scene, the lighting in this video is very dark which connotes that the song has a negative meaning to it. This is an example of low key lighting. Also, for costume, christina in the video wheres a white dress which looks like a wedding dress, this is an example of juxtoposition as a wedding dress is supposed to make someone happy however, in this video she clearly is very sad. As, a prop in the video a empty jar was used on more than one occasion, and not only is what the song is called but it demonstrates that the relationship that she had was very empty and pointless, in our video when one of the sisters die the other sister will feel like her heart is empty. In editing, near the beginning there is a fade out from one scene to another. I find this technique very effective as instead of a cut it still links each scene together. However, there are some very quick cuts in this video when they are dancing so its good that they have used a variety of different editing techniques. Slow motion is also used. In a lot of videos I have observed slow motion is a repeated technique and so I think this will be a good technique to include in our music video. In this video the slow motion is used as a way of showing the beauty of the dancing. In camerawork, at the start of the video there is a close-up shot of christina dropping a cut up rose, this demonstrates that the love that was being represented was very important however, that is now broken. the close-up shot helps the audience understand the narrative of this music video. Another, shot used was a panning shot upwards, the camera was shot from below her and then pans up towards her facing forwards. This means that as she walked towards the camera she made the audience feel like she had power over the story behind the video, it represents her as a strong woman. Lastly, in sound, the beat of the song is very sqd and so a minor key was used here to show this. Also, in the song you could here violins being played and these are known for creating a sad tune, therefore it makes the song more emotional for the audience.

Conventions of A Music Video
Some conventions which we are going to try and include in our video-
- Slow Motion- For the memories of the two sisters. This way it makes the reader see there memories and happiness.
- Close-up Shot- To see the good times in close detail.
- A prop- Our piano as it is essential for the melody and feeling of our song.
- An mixture of different cutting and editing techniques, ie fade in/out.
- Lighting- Low and High key lighting, mixture of the two, to connote either happy times or sad times.
-An object which has some relevence to the narrative of the story ie the cut up rose, the notepad. In ours we are going to use a locket with a picture in it.

Do A Textual Analysis Using Media Terminology Of Three Existing Texts
Taylor Swift- You Belong With Me- Textual Analysis-
Firstly, for camerawork at the beggining there is an over the shoulder shot which shows what Taylor is looking at in the video. Also, there is a 180 degree shot of her bedroom and having this shot shows the audience what sort of personality the character has as it shows that she isnt the most popular girl in school. The audience can see that there is a globe and a lot of study books sitting round the room. Furthermore, there is a close-up shot of her face when the boy pulls hair out of her eyes. This could connote that he is wanting her to not hide herself away anymore, so he trys to get her to be more confident by moving the piece of hair away. Its as if it is a barrier protecting herself. Also, there is another close up shot of the I Love You sign at the end of the video. There is one of her sign and there is also one of his sign. This demonstrates the relationship between the two of them and that the love between them is very important in the narrative of this music video. In sound the key of the music is quite upbeat and is in a major key as it isnt a very sad beat. Next, in mise-en-scene, there were various costume changes and it gives the audience the idea that there are many different personalities and people trying to be portrayed in the video. Also, a prop that is used a lot and that has a meaning to the video is the notepad. This notepad is used to write notes to each other and when they write I Love You to each other the same pieces of paper were used as from the pad, therefore this pad shows a true meaning to the story of the video. In the final scene, the lighting is low lighting apart from the high key lighting which is on Taylor. This makes her stand out compared to the rest of the people who just blend in. The male talent in the video can easily see her then and this gives the audience the chance to see the connection that they have. In editing, there is a cut to her eyes looking at him and it shows us her desire to be with him, but he just isnt seeing that. Slow motion is also used in this video of the bad girl and the boy and as the innocent girl is watching slow motion is used to rub it into her face. Slow motion is used here in a negative way but we hope to use it in a postive way in our coursework. Lastly, a use of eyeline match is used
between the innocent girl and the boy and again the audience can tell what the narrative of the video is, and the relationship they have.
